The project

Holocaustmap is currently in the testing phase; not all information has been verified and some information may be inaccurate. Always check sources and if you find an inaccuracy, please let us know!

We aim to provide a centralised resource for the general public, academics and interested parties, for the purposes of research, education and the preservation of archival material that is often spread across multiple sources and (at risk of) being lost. We feel a responsibility to the victims of genocide to ensure these atrocities will always be remembered.

The website

The website currently consists of these parts:

  • the map, showing a variety of different locations
  • the wiki, which holds information about each location
  • the gallery (currently offline), holding (mostly) recent photos of locations

The website does not use cookies. We strive to host everything and not rely on external services (currently leaflet is pulled from unpkg.com). Some more information can be found at the bottom of our roadmap.

The finances

The project is financed through individual donations, there is no corporate support of any kind.

Us

We are a small team of volunteers, academics and researchers creating an interactive map of the Holocaust, uncovering the scale of nazi terror.

The best way to contact us at this time is by using discord.

Alternatively, you can email us: info at holocaustmap.org.

Visiting locations of Nazi terror

Remember that atrocities were commited at these places. Be respectful.

Please note that not all locations are publicly accessible. We strive to include accessibility data for every location. Due to the large number of locations (more than 40,000), this is not always possible.

Additionally, some locations may be abandoned, so entering can be both illegal and dangerous.

Some information about methodology can be found here.

Please exercise caution and observe local laws when visiting locations.
